Sn0wbreeze v2.9 Released With iOS 5.0.1 Untethered Jailbreak Support

Sn0wbreeze is two years old now. If you’re jailbreaking your iOS devices from a long time then you should be familiar with sn0wbreeze, especially if you rely on unlocks. It’s the most popular Windows based iOS jailbreaking tool which allows you to preserve your baseband and create custom iOS firmware files.

Sn0wbreeze’s developer iH8Sn0w has released an updated version of his jailbreaking tool on its 2nd birthday. There are a lot of new things which are included in Sn0wbreeze v2.9 but one of the major features which have been added in Sn0wbreeze 2.9 is that it now supports iOS 5.0.1 untethered jailbreak. You can jailbreak your iPhone, iPod Touch and iPad untethered by creating a custom iOS 5.0.1 IPSW file using this latest version. This untethered jailbreak for iOS 5.0.1 is also based on Pod2g’s Corona Untether jailbreak for iOS 5.0.1. Following iOS devices are supported by Sn0wbreeze for iOS 5.0.1 untethered jailbreak:

• iPhone 4
• iPhone 3GS
• iPod Touch 4G
• iPod Touch 3G
• iPad 1

Important: iPhone 4S and iPad 2 are not supported by Sn0wbreeze v2.9.

One of the best and my personal favorite feature is that Sn0wbreeze 2.9 now supports all previous versions of iOS firmwares. You can now build custom IPSW firmware files using SHSH blobs which were saved by TinyUmbrella and you can also build custom IPSW file using blobs which are saved by iFaith.
Another great and much needed feature is that Sn0wbreeze 2.9 allows you to download IPSW files for your iOS device directly from Apple. All you have to do is select your iOS device and the firmware which you want to download for your iOS device and that’s it.

Sn0wbreeze 2.9 will also remove those annoying OTA update badges from your iOS device if you’re running iOS 5.x.
