Sherif Hashim Still Working On iPhone 4 Baseband 04.11.08 – 02.10.04 Unlock

Here are some good news for iPhone users who are stuck on high basebands which neither can be unlocked by Gevey SIM nor Ultrasn0w, the well-known expert iPhone baseband hacker Sherif Hashim has just confirmed that he is still working very hard to unlock iPhone 4 02.10.04 baseband (on iOS 4.1) and 04.11.08 baseband (iOS 5 / 5.0.1).

Unlock 04.11.08 Baseband
We don’t want to talk a lot so we’ll brief what Sherif Hashim said.
Here’s what Sherif Hashim said about the iPhone 4 GSM unlock:
for those whom are still concerned YES i am still working on the VERY TIGHT bbfw 2.10-4.11
However, he asked users not to keep asking about the release and just wait:
NO NEED to ask because it won’t make it achievable/earlier/easier.
We conclude that status will be communicated by either him or by the legendary iPhone hacker MuscleNerd whenever the ultrasn0w unlock is available.
In case you want to upgrade to iOS 5.0.1 without upgrading your iPhone 4 baseband to 04.11.08, you’ll need to preserver your iPhone baseband. You can follow our guide posted here to preserve iPhone 4 baseband while upgrading to iOS 5.0.1 using redsn0w.

iPhone 4S Launch in China Greeted With Long Lines

Tech in Asia reports:
There are already huge queues outside of China’s five official Apple (NASDAQ:AAPL) stores in readiness for tomorrow’s launch of the iPhone 4S. At the two stores in Beijing, and the three in Shanghai, there are clearly lines stretching hundreds of meters, with reports of hundreds of queuers at each, snaking around city blocks (see more photos below). Most stores have a ticketing system to deter queue-jumpers, but that won’t stop the ‘scalpers’ who buy the phones to resell later at a profit.
Tech in Asia also reports that China Unicom, which is Apple's exclusive iPhone carrier partner in China sent out text messages to their customers reminding them that iPhone 4S will be available on their website from 12:01 am, who is offering the 16GB iPhone 4S for free with a two-year contract.
But users are apparently more interested in buying the unlocked iPhone 4S models rather than committing to a contract with China Unicom. The 16 GB iPhone 4S is available for 4988 RMB (approx. $790), 32GB iPhone 4S for 5888 RMB (approx. $930) and 64GB iPhone 4S for 6788 RMB (approx. $1075).

iPhone 4S also goes on sale in Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Bolivia, Botswana, British Virgin Islands, Cameroon, Cayman Islands, Central African Republic, Dominica, Dominican Republic, Ecuador, Grenada, Guam, Guinea Conakry, Ivory Coast, Jamaica, Kenya, Madagascar, Mali, Mauritius, Niger, Senegal, St. Vincent and The Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago, Turks and Caicos and Uganda on Friday.

In addition to the iOS 5.0.1 support, iREB r5 includes a number of fixes and improvements:

  • Much smaller file size (390kb).
  • Fixed USB 3.0 issues.
  • iREB's speed for the iPhone 2G/iPhone 3G/iPod Touch 1G has
  • increased significantly!
  • Fixed rare DFU detection issues.

Next Generation Iphone

Here is a new iPhone concept design from ADR Studios , the guys behind iCam concept . The iPhone SJ as the designers have named the prototype is identical in dimensions to the iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S with edge to edge screen and much slimmer profile . Italian designer Antonia De Rosa created this concept design and named it “SJ” as in Steve Jobs . The concept suggests a full glass front panel built on a lightweight polycarbonate body .

Download Custom Untethered Jailbroken iOS 5.0.1 IPSW Files For iPhone 4/3GS, iPhone 4 CDMA, iPad1, iPod Touch [Hacktivated]

Some time has passed since Apple pushed the final version of the iOS 5.0.1 out of the door, which included a number of important fixes for the iDevice users. Firstly, it fixed the well-known battery draining issues that many iPhone 3GS/4 and iPhone 4S users are experiencing with their devices upgraded to the latest iOS 5. At least this is what Apple claims! Secondly, original iPad 1 users got lucky because Apple has enabled the multi-touch gestures for them in iOS 5.0.1. This features was disabled in the iOS 5.0 for the iPad 1 users but was only available to the iPad 2 users. It’s also mentioned that it fixes the bugs for the documents in the cloud. Finally, it improves the voice recognition for the Australian users.
As we mentioned yesterday, that long awaited untethered jailbreak solution for iDevice users on the iOS 5.0.1 has been finally released by iPhone Dev-Team in the form of Redsn0w update. Although, for now untethered jailbreak solution only works for non Apple A5 devices. More specifically dual-core A5 SoC based devices iPad 2 and iPhone 4S are excluded for now. We already brought you the detailed guides on how to untethered jailbreak iOS 5.0.1 on iPhone 4, 3GS, iPod Touch and iPad. In particular, new version of the Redsn0w supports custom firmware creation using baseband preservation mode for users on both Mac and Windows. It means no need to use Sn0wbreeze or P0wnage Tool for this purpose. This baseband preservation mode is useful incase you want to unlock your iPhone in the future using a tool like Ultrasn0w.
In any case, if you don’t’ to go in to hassle of creating the custom untethered jailbroken iOS 5.0.1 firmware for your iPhone 4/3GS or if you came across some problems then we have the solution. Here, we present the direct download links for the custom firmware IPSW files for iPhone 4/3GS, iPad, iPod Touch 3G/4G that are already untethered jailbroken on iOS 5.0.1! All you need to do is to restore them using the iTunes on your iDevice. In case of iPhone 4 and iPhone 3GS you can find both normal and Hacktivated versions of the iOS 5.0.1 IPSW files. Hacktivated versions are useful to preserve the baseband in case you want to unlock your device later using Ultrasn0w.
So here are the download links:

How to Use Untethered Jailbroken iOS 5.0.1 IPSW Files

- First download the Redsn0w from here (Windows/Mac).
- Launch the application and click on “Extras”
- Now click on “Pwned DFU” and follow the on-screen instructions so limera1n exploit is applied.
- After your device enters the Pwned DFU mode now launch the iTunes and navigate to the iPhone tab and press SHIFT (Option on Mac) and then with the SHIFT (Option on Mac) pressed click on the on the “Restore” button. Now a new dialog will popup from this navigate to the place where the custom iOS 5.0.1 firmware that we created in the previous step is stored and then Select it. Be careful you need to select the custom iOS 5 firmware that was cooked using the Redsn0w and starts with “NO_BB”!
After selecting the new custom firmware iTunes will begin installing/restoring the iOS 5.0.1 but with the critical feature that the old baseband will be preserved.
Congrats! You have jailbroken your iPhone 4, iPhone 4 CDMA, iPhone 3GS on iOS 5.0.1 while preserving the baseband of the device.
Now to unlock your iPhone after jailbreak using the following guide:
If you want to jailbreak iOS 5.0.1 on your iDevice but NOT concerned about preserving the baseband of your iDevice then please follow our guide:

New Liquipel Coating Waterproofs Your iPhone, Android Phone Without A Case [VIDEO]

By Awais Imran | January 11th, 2012

If you work in an environment where your smartphone is constantly in danger of getting water-damaged, you can either a. get yourself a heavy, rugged phone like the Motorola Defy or, starting today, b. apply a waterproof, internal coating from Liquipel!

The news comes from our friends over at The Unofficial Apple Weblog (or TUAW, as it is more popularly known) in the form of a short post in which they discuss how the technology-in-question works and how you can get use it with your own iPhone.
The waterproofing technology is called Liquipel (liquid repel) and it completely waterproofs your smartphone. Instead of using a traditional, external case, Liquipel uses a a nano coating that repels water at, well, the nano level. As TUAW puts it, it acts like a wax paper that simply refuses to absorb water.
From TUAW:
Yeah, it sounds too good to be true. But that really is an iPhone in the cylinder above. Liquipel claims to make your smartphone water resistant by bonding it inside and out with a "nano" coating which repels water. While this isn’t for deep sea diving, it appears to be an ideal solution if you are clumsy or happen to be around water quite a bit.
Now, there is both good news and bad news. The good news is, it is available in the market right now and costs just $59; a small price to pay, really, when you consider the potential water damages that you may have to incur. The bad news is, you can’t just apply the nano coating yourself. You have to send in your device to Liquipel, their people apply the coating and then you get your device back within 1-2 days.
Liquipel supports the Apple iPhone 3G/3GS/4/4S, HTC EVO 4G, EVO Shift 4G, MyTouch 4G, Thunderbolt, Motorola Droid X/X2 and the Samsung Charge.
There are a couple of very important, unanswered questions though: firstly, how does Liquipel apply the coating? Is the device disassembled? Secondly, will using Liquipel on a device void its manufacturer warranty? We don’t have answers to these questions yet, so you may want to wait for the official statement before sending in your device.
Liquipel hopes to work with manufacturers directly so their coating can come pre-installed.
See Liquipel in action in the video embedded below:

Release Dragon Go! For Android – Download It Now [VIDEO]

Nuance Communications, better known as the folks whose technology powers Siri for the iPhone 4S, have released a standalone Siri-like app for Android today. It’s called Dragon Go! and it is, without a doubt, the best Siri alternative for Android. Check it out after the break.

As we’ve mentioned in the introductory paragraph, Dragon Go! has been developed by Nuance Communications, Inc. – the same company whose technology powers Siri on iOS.
From Android Market:
With Dragon Go! you can do more in less time like buy movie tickets as you walk into the theater, go shopping at local boutiques while you wait for your nails to dry, settle a bet at the breakfast table on the square root of Pi, or plan and invite guests to that night’s happy hour – all with just one ask of Dragon Go!
We’ve tested the app on a Samsung Galaxy S II on Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread and can confirm that it works as advertised.
In a manner similar to Siri on iPhone 4S, you can ask Dragon Go! all sorts of questions. These audio queries are processed by Nuance’s servers and then sent to one (or more) of the appropriate services such as Wolfram|Alpha, YouTube, AccuWeather, Dictionary.com, Last.fm, Pandora, IMDB, Wikipedia, Yelp, Google, Rotten Tomatoes and Fandango, just to name a few (Dragon Go! accesses 200+ services).

Because it is a third-party app, Dragon Go! doesn’t integrate with your Android device’s system apps, so you can’t set alarms, fire off emails/texts etc. as you would with Siri.
If you are interested, live in the US* and have an Android device running Android 2.1 or above**, then Dragon Go! can be downloaded for free from the link embedded below. Be sure to let us know what you think of it by leaving a comment over on our Facebook page!
Download Dragon Go! [Market Link]
*Those of you outside the US will be disappointed to know that Dragon Go! is US-only at the moment. However, seasoned Android enthusiasts know that there is a way: if you have a rooted Android smartphone, you can install an app like Market Enabler [Market Link] and sort of fool Market into thinking that your device is in US. Just be sure to choose USA T-Mobile when you launch it!
**Dragon Go! does not support Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, yet.
Be sure to check out our Android Apps gallery to explore more apps for your Android device.

Saurik Extends His Support For The A5 Untethered Jailbreak

Recently, we told you about the formation of the Dream Team, who will be soon releasing an untethered jailbreak for iPhone 4S and iPad 2. We also updated and gave you some extra information on the status of the A5 untethered jailbreak. Last week, due to some difficulties, pod2g asked the help of some major iPhone devs and hackers. He wanted to get rid of bugs and get the untethered jailbreak ready for release, thus @Planetbeing@MuscleNerd from the iPhone Dev-Team and @P0sixNinja joined the cause and provided help and support to pod2g.
Now however, the guy who gave us Cydia, Saurik a.k.a Jay Freeman has also joined the Dream Team and has made it even stronger than before. MuscleNerd mentioned @saurik in a tweet earlier today and thanked him.
As he mentioned, there is still no confirmed ETA on the release of the A5 untethered jailbreak, but it should be as early as this week. Pod2g also responded to some tweets that asked him to release the untethered jailbreak for developers. He stated that the exploit should remain a secret and that he won’t be releasing it for the developers. All we have to do now is to wait, and hope the iPhone 4S and iPad 2 untethered jailbreak will be releasing this week.
