Release Dragon Go! For Android – Download It Now [VIDEO]

Nuance Communications, better known as the folks whose technology powers Siri for the iPhone 4S, have released a standalone Siri-like app for Android today. It’s called Dragon Go! and it is, without a doubt, the best Siri alternative for Android. Check it out after the break.

As we’ve mentioned in the introductory paragraph, Dragon Go! has been developed by Nuance Communications, Inc. – the same company whose technology powers Siri on iOS.

With Dragon Go! you can do more in less time like buy movie tickets as you walk into the theater, go shopping at local boutiques while you wait for your nails to dry, settle a bet at the breakfast table on the square root of Pi, or plan and invite guests to that night’s happy hour – all with just one ask of Dragon Go!

We’ve tested the app on a Samsung Galaxy S II on Android 2.3.3 Gingerbread and can confirm that it works as advertised.
In a manner similar to Siri on iPhone 4S, you can ask Dragon Go! all sorts of questions. These audio queries are processed by Nuance’s servers and then sent to one (or more) of the appropriate services such as Wolfram|Alpha, YouTube, AccuWeather, Dictionary.com, Last.fm, Pandora, IMDB, Wikipedia, Yelp, Google, Rotten Tomatoes and Fandango, just to name a few (Dragon Go! accesses 200+ services).

Because it is a third-party app, Dragon Go! doesn’t integrate with your Android device’s system apps, so you can’t set alarms, fire off emails/texts etc. as you would with Siri.

*Those of you outside the US will be disappointed to know that Dragon Go! is US-only at the moment. However, seasoned Android enthusiasts know that there is a way: if you have a rooted Android smartphone, you can install an app like Market Enabler [Market Link] and sort of fool Market into thinking that your device is in US. Just be sure to choose USA T-Mobile when you launch it!
**Dragon Go! does not support Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, yet.

Saurik Extends His Support For The A5 Untethered Jailbreak

Recently, we told you about the formation of the Dream Team, who will be soon releasing an untethered jailbreak for iPhone 4S and iPad 2. We also updated and gave you some extra information on the status of the A5 untethered jailbreak. Last week, due to some difficulties, pod2g asked the help of some major iPhone devs and hackers. He wanted to get rid of bugs and get the untethered jailbreak ready for release, thus @Planetbeing, @MuscleNerd from the iPhone Dev-Team and @P0sixNinja joined the cause and provided help and support to pod2g.
Now however, the guy who gave us Cydia, Saurik a.k.a Jay Freeman has also joined the Dream Team and has made it even stronger than before. MuscleNerd mentioned @saurik in a tweet earlier today and thanked him.

As he mentioned, there is still no confirmed ETA on the release of the A5 untethered jailbreak, but it should be as early as this week. Pod2g also responded to some tweets that asked him to release the untethered jailbreak for developers. He stated that the exploit should remain a secret and that he won’t be releasing it for the developers. All we have to do now is to wait, and hope the iPhone 4S and iPad 2 untethered jailbreak will be releasing this week.

Jailbreak For iPhone 4S And iPad 2 Could be Released as Early as Next Week

We have some good news for iPhone 4S and iPad 2 users who are eagerly waiting for a jailbreak. 

iOS hacker pod2G whose untethered jailbreak was used by Chronic Dev team to release the Corona iOS 5.0.1 Untether and by the iPhone Dev team to release Redsn0w to perform an untethered jailbreak on iPhone 4, iPhone 3GS, iPod touch 4G and iPod touch 3G has just revealed that he has made more progress on jailbreaking iPhone 4S and iPad 2.

He tweeted:

I made a step today for the A5. With some luck we could expect a release in a week.

iPhone 4S and iPad 2 are both powered by Apple's A5 system-on-chip.

Wondering if you should stay on iOS 5 or upgrade to iOS 5.0.1? pod2G has also adviced iPhone 4S and iPad 2 users to upgrade to iOS 5.0.1:

Yes, upgrade your 4S and iPad 2 to 5.0.1.

So please don't forget to update your iPhone 4S and iPad 2 to iOS 5.0.1 before Apple releases iOS 5.0.2/iOS 5.1.

pod2G hasn't mentioned if the jailbreak will be untethered or tethered. We're hoping that it is an untethered jailbreak.

Spire Proxy Host Address To Get Siri On Old Devices

Yes you read the title right! After doing a lot of research throughout the web and find out who has successfully made a server for SiriPort, we have compiled a list of Proxy Host Address. Spire is a new tool for installing Siri on previously unsupported, but jailbroken, devices. Spire is a small download, but while installing it will download Siri itself (directly from Apple). Spire is available in Cydia! This will use about 100 MB of data, so please connect to Wi-Fi before installing.

Windows Phone 7.5 has a great web browser Internet Explorer Mobile, but how it compares against browsers on other competing platforms ? Above is the video comparison of web browser of Nokia Lumia 800, iPhone 4 and iPhone 4S. iPhone 4S performs great in all of the speed tests done while iPhone 4 lags behind IE Mobile in some tests. With 3G and 4G connections being what they are, many turn to their iOS, Android and Windows Phone devices for a little on-the-go backup internet. Unfortunately, despite many carriers offering unlimited web access, unauthorized internet tethering doesn’t come as part of the deal, and some – namely AT&T – have been swiftly altering consumers’ packages to include tethering for those caught surfing via third-party devices.



The argument is ongoing, with the general consensus wondering why an unlimited package isn’t truly unlimited. But checking the small print of your contractual agreement will usually confirm that the process goes against what you signed up for, leaving the purchase of a more expensive package as the only remaining option besides purchasing the rather pricey USB dongle, which is less practical and even more expensive than browsing via your smartphone.

Subsequently, modders and developers have released various apps which try and offer users a covert angle to tethering which avoids the price hike by hiding the activity. One such individual is Koushik Dutta, mastermind behind ClockworkMod who has just released a tester of what he claims to be an undetectable tethering ap.  ClockworkMod Tether Alpha allows Windows, Mac and Linux users to utilize the 3G or 4G connection of an Android as if it were a proxy, as opposed to a router. In theory, the technique will spoof carriers checking for the TTL (Time To Live) data coming from a desktop, which would usually give the game away.



The Android device itself doesn’t even need to be rooted. A computer app installs a virtual connection which understands how to communicate with the proxy on the phone.

The app itself is in alpha, so don’t expect the finished article; Indeed,  the Linux version is not much more than a command-line app. Dutta has set the utility to expire on 7th January in order to encourage users to purchase the proper version once it has been developed. Bluetooth tethering is also in the pipeline for what could turn out to be a really useful tool in the battle against the additional charges.

With the big guns offering tethering for an additional 20+ bucks, the likes of Dutta’s progress will undoubtedly ruffle a few feathers.

UPDATE: Video below. i4SiriAuth does work. iPod Touch 4G Siri also does work.
So we have been hard at work on the server. Mark DiFranco is lead developer on the server side. He has been able to make a connection with the google voice api and he is currently working on implementing it into the Siri Proxy. He has to figure out how to convert the siri speech packets to flac to send to google api service. He said that he is sure he can accomplish the job.
All of this news about the google voice api has gotten people a little confused. We are going to use the google voice api to simple covert speech to text. This will not make siri’s voice sound different nor will it mean lack in siri functions. We are simply using google’s server instead of apple’s. We will have to spend more time implementing plugins but the final outcome should result in a  fully functional siri server.
As for plugin development we have added a new member to the team. @acenario is going to be working on some siri plugins along with myself (@mrajstech) and Alex (@leftyfl1p).
Our server should support Spire. We plan on releasing the server by just telling the address. The server should be able to handle the requests but if not we will just have to keep upgrading. There is no ETA on release but we will be releasing the server to donators first as we promised. This will allow a slow release of the server and allow for testing.
